  • Current - 2013: Account Executive at TEXT 100 Global Public Relations Consultancy

 

My principal responsibilities are the management of PR duties for large corporate clients. This involves the development and implementation of comprehensive media engagement plans for these clients. It is a position that requires the delivery of monthly or quarterly targets through effective forward planning, accurate management and creative skills.

 

My current Portfolio includes Mimecast, Vodacom Business and Marsh Africa.

 

I am also in charge of developing and implementing thought leadership opportunities for Nedbank Capital’s key spokespeople.

 

  • January-July 2013: Account Coordinator at TEXT 100 Global Public Relations Consultancy

 

Role included day-to-day PR duties for clients. This involved selling pitches to journalists, developing and implementing media engagement plans, running social media platforms, and keeping up-to-date with trends in the media. Portfolio included Mimecast, Vodacom Business, Ovations and Nedbank Capital.

 

  • 2012: Producer for Cue TV at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown (10 days)

 

A pressurized assignment that required leadership, teamwork and discipline. Over a period of 10 days, I edited, produced and shot 12 short documentaries covering a variety of plays, shows, exhibits and interviews with theatre directors, actors, artists and musicians. Working with different individuals on different films tested my interpersonal, organizational and communicative skills.

 

  • 2012: Intern at eNCA [eNews Channel Africa] in Johannesburg (one week)

 

Worked in the studios, edit suites and general newsrooms of a 24-hour television news network. I was introduced to the reality and immediacy of news journalism through experience in the field, while shadowing journalists and assisting them and their respective cameramen and producers on various assignments.

 

  • 2011: Intern at Ignition TV in Johannesburg (two weeks)

 

Provided me with experience in television journalism in particular television production. It taught me the value of the team concept inherent in a TV media house, from filming, editing, sound mixing, and producing through to broadcasting. I gained valuable practical skills while working in the editing suites and in the field.

 

  • 2009-2010: Intern at the Weekend Post and the Daily Maverick (one week each)

 

Illustrative and informative introduction to the breadth of the media business via the traditional workings of both a large-scale newspaper, as well as significant exposure to new-media via a small-scale online publication. Gained insight into different methods of communication, teamwork and responsibilities.
